FabLight
Breaking down barriers to advanced manufacturing techniques for everyone, using precision machines and software automation
3D FabLight is a leading provider of advanced, high-speed laser equipment for cutting, engraving, and industrial marking. Otherlab, an independent research and design lab for bringing new solutions in renewable energy and robotics to market, founded FabLight in 2016. 3D FabLight started as an idea to bend the cost curve of owning a metal laser cutter, and thanks to a government grant, the company was able to do so successfully.
Now headquartered in Oakland, California, 3D FabLight produces the most cost-effective, made-in-the-USA fiber laser cutter for sheets and tubes. Their laser was used early in educational and military applications and proved that anyone can learn how to cut metal.
- High-quality lasers that combine functionality, flexibility, and cost-effectiveness
- Complete vertical integration – Hardware, software, and service all in-house
- Founded in 2016 as a spin-off from Otherlab and headquartered in Oakland, CA
3D FabLight dedicates all its resources to producing the world’s most high-performing, cost-effective metal laser.
3D FabLight systems cut, engrave, and mark various materials, including stainless, aluminum, copper steels, titanium, molybdenum, and graphite alloys. The company’s unique laser system and unmatched service and support offerings have made 3D FabLight one of the industry’s most up-and-coming resources for fiber laser equipment. Although the FabLight laser is a product created due to the lack of affordable fiber lasers on the market, they don’t sacrifice quality for cost – businesses of all sorts for production and prototyping use their industrial machine. Many high schools and colleges also use the FabLight machine as a magnificent educational tool. Teachers and students use it for custom tools, fixtures, IO control panels, utility panels, and laser-cut furniture. The possibilities are truly endless.

Note: After placing your order, you cannot undo the power source and rotary configuration.
Step 1: Cutting Power
FabLight 1500 (FL1500)
- 1500W Peak Power Pulsed IPG Laser Source
- Up to 0.075” (1.9 mm) mild steel
- The most affordable entry-model fiber laser system
- Applications: Fine jewelry, electronics heat shields, metal gaskets, springs, and solder masks
FabLight 3000 (FL3000)
- 4500W Peak Power Pulsed IPG Laser Source
- Up to 0.150” (3.8 mm) mild steel
- Middle-of-the-road balance of power and speed
- Applications: Enclosures, fixtures, and signage
FabLight 4500 (FL4500)
- 4500W Peak Power Pulsed IPG Laser Source
- Up to 0.250” (6.0 mm) mild steel
- Flagship model with faster speeds on all materials
- Applications: Thick enclosures, metal tube frames, structural product components
Step 2: Cutting Pressure
Low Pressure (FLXXXX-LP)
Tight budget? Cutting under ⅛” steel? Thin is in.
Our low-pressure configuration suits schools, businesses, and universities that only cut thin materials and are OK with some dross left behind. Affordable and shop compressor systems can be configured with off-the-shelf components.
- Cut Mild Steel: Less than 0.125” (3.18 mm)
- Min/Max Input Pressure: 100 – 175 psi (10 CFM)
- Max Operating Pressure: 135 psi
High Pressure (FLXXXX-HP)
Enough pressure for you…through thick and thin.
Thicker materials, cleaner cuts, less dross, and faster speeds. Don’t be limited by your regulator. Upgrade to high pressure and cut prototype parts up to 0.250” mild steel. Spend less time removing dross and more time laser cutting.
- Cut Mild Steel: Greater than 0.125” (3.18 mm)
- Min/Max Input Pressure: 140 – 300 psi (10 CFM)
- Max Operating Pressure: 250 psi
Need even cleaner edges? Leave it to nitrogen.
Nitrogen (N2) is an inert assist gas that eliminates the oxidation typically occurring with compressed air and leaves clean, high-quality edges. No secondary operations are required.
*Nitrogen cutting is only available with a high-pressure regulator.
Step 3: Integrated Rotary Drive
FabLight machines with an integrated rotary drive configuration provide the ability to cut 3” Ø round and 2“ square or rectangular tubes and pipes with wall thicknesses up to 0.188” and up to 52” in length or 80” with an optional tube extension accessory. Unlike traditional fiber laser systems, our tube-cutting rotary is wholly integrated into our machines. No attachments need to be installed, and there is no need to purchase a second machine. Switch between tube and sheet metal cutting in seconds and double your production line’s capabilities within the same compact 21 sqft footprint.
For a fraction of the cost of a tube-only fiber laser system, you’re now future-proofing your facility’s capability for the projects it can accept. FabLight owners find many creative uses for the integrated rotary. Many cut their frames out of square tubes to create 100% customizable assembly line tables for their teams. There is no overhead to worry about; it is on-demand when needed.
